Stress is known as the silent killer for a reason. The more that you try to ignore stress, the more it’s going to take a hold on your life and you’re going to head toward burnout.
So, you’ve got to effectively learn how to reduce stress, and move towards a better life for yourself. In this blog post, I’ll be exploring ways to find more inner peace and wellbeing sharing advice that has helped me.
Breathing Techniques
First, you should make sure that you are exploring breathing techniques. Breathing techniques are a great choice because it means that you can increase the oxygen to the brain, relieving stress and bringing clarity.
Follow online breathing technique videos, consider mindfulness apps and start yoga which focuses on breath work to help restore balance and serenity in your life.
Take A Break
Don’t be afraid to take a break every so often. This could be for a weekend or something slightly longer like a week away. Figure out where you want to go and tie up any other commitments you have like pet care or childcare. It won’t take long to feel like yourself again after a short break away.
Find A Hobby
Another thing you could do to reduce your levels of stress is find yourself a hobby. This can take the pressure off. Find a hobby that you’re passionate about. Reflect on the pursuits you loved as a child and try your hand at those again whether that’s drawing, basketball or ballet. Adult classes are easy to find.
If you want to challenge your brain, then you could try word games or number puzzles, sudoku or crosswords. If you want to take this one step further then you could play chess online. Hobbies don’t always need to be done in the comfort of your own home, you could also find one in the local neighborhood.
Speak To Someone
Let off steam by talking about your problems with those you trust. Open up to friends, family or a professional if you are able to access a therapist for example.
Sometimes this is exactly what we need, even if there is no immediate solution to the problem. Learning how to handle stress, build resilience and self-soothe are important life skills. Being listened to enables you to feel heard, understood and less alone.
You don’t need validation, but sometimes it’s just nice to have it, right?
I hope this helps you understand some of the key steps that you can explore to reduce the high levels of stress in your life. In doing so, you can make sure that you are improving your quality of life, your mental health, and your overall physical wellbeing – you deserve the best in life.
