What Is Super Bowl Squares Board Party Game?

Super Bowl Squares is a grid-based guessing game where players pick squares on a 10×10 board. After all squares are filled, numbers 0–9 are randomly assigned to each row and column. Those numbers correspond to the last digit of each team’s score at the end of each quarter.

When the quarter ends, the square matching the score wins!

It’s easy, exciting, and filled with suspense as the score changes throughout the game.

Just like with our Super Bowl Predictions Game, you can play for fun, add a little friendly wagering, or hand out prizes. However you choose to play, it’s guaranteed fun.

Our family plays Super Bowl Squares every single year. It’s become one of our must-have game-day traditions. Even when our hometown Chiefs aren’t in the big game, this board keeps everyone invested. Plus, it keeps even the commercial-watchers glued to the score.

1. Start by printing the free Super Bowl Squares board at the bottom of this post. Then add the competing football team names to the labeled row and column spots on the grid.

2. Players take turns writing their name in empty boxes until the grid is full. With smaller groups, everyone can claim multiple squares.

3. Once all the squares are filled:

  • Randomly assign numbers 0–9 across the top row (one number per column).
  • Randomly assign numbers 0–9 down the left column (one number per row).

These numbers represent the last digit of each team’s score.

4. Watch the game and track the winners. At the end of each quarter:

  • Look at the last digit of each team’s score.
  • Find the square where those two numbers meet.
  • That square wins the prize for the quarter!

You can award prizes for each quarter, halftime, and final score.

How to Randomly Assign the Numbers 0–9

Assigning numbers randomly is key to keeping the game fair. Here are a few easy ways to do it:

1. Draw Numbers From a Bowl

Write the digits 0–9 on slips of paper, toss them in a bowl, and draw them one by one.

  • First draw → Column 1
  • Second draw → Column 2
    …and so on.

Repeat for the rows.

2. Use a Deck of Cards

Uno cards work perfectly. Shuffle the 0–9 cards and place them across the grid in order as you draw.

3. Use a Random Number Generator

Use an online random number generator to quickly and easily generate numbers from 0–9.

4. Let the Youngest Player Do It

Kids love the responsibility, and it becomes a fun tradition!

FAQ

Can I just write the numbers 0–9 in order down the rows and columns?

Technically, yes, but you shouldn’t. Sequential numbers make certain squares much more valuable than others (like 0–0 or 7–0). Random assignment makes the game fair and fun for everyone.

Does every square need to be filled?

Yes. If you’re short a few squares, let players claim extras or assign the final squares randomly.

Can kids play?

Absolutely! It’s 100% luck-based. No football knowledge needed.

Can I award prizes for each quarter?

Yes! Most people do. You can also award a final prize for the ending score.

What if the game goes into overtime?

You can add an extra prize for the overtime score or use the overtime score as your final winner.
