Fun Dice Game Variations
Want to switch things up? Try one of these twists to keep the game fresh and exciting!
1. Color Challenge
Assign a color of candy a “power.” If a player pulls it from the middle, they can steal 2, roll again, or swap seats with someone.
2. Lucky Color Bonus
Before starting, each player secretly chooses one color of candy as their “lucky color.”
At the end of the game, whoever collected the most of their chosen color wins a bonus prize.
3. Team Play
Players pair up. Each teammate keeps their own candies, but their totals are added together at the end. It’s a fun twist for classroom or large-group play.
4. Special Item Twist
Include one “special” item in the bowl. The player who gets it completes a fun challenge or earns an extra turn.
5. Silly Dares
When certain numbers are rolled, players complete a quick dare, like:
- Do a funny dance move
- Make a silly sound
- Give a compliment to the player on your right
6. Roll for a Riddle
Create a card with What Am I? Riddles. If a player rolls a 5, they must answer one before taking their turn.
7. Speed Round
Set a timer for 2 minutes and see how many times players can pass the die. This makes it fast, chaotic, and ridiculously fun.
8. Play With 1 Larger Item
You can also play this like the Candy Cane Dice Game instead. For that game, every player gets one item, and you play 10 rounds (or until you feel like stopping). For that game, I like to use different flavored candy canes or candy canes wrapped in money to keep it exciting!
9. Double Dice
Use two dice and let players pick which number to follow.
10. Candy Chaos Swap
When a 6 is rolled, everyone stands up, switches seats as fast as possible, and keeps whatever candy ends up in front of them.
