One
which

one
of
the
few

Even
though

The
Guilty
One
Story
Bhaskaran
(Pasupathy),
a
retired
Goverment
pharmacist
is
living
with
his
wife
(Lizzie
Antony)
and
ailing
grandson
Rahul.
He
is
desperately
waiting
for
his
retirement
money,
as
Rahul
needs
an
urgent
surgery.
However,
on
the
day
of
their
village
temple
festival,
Bhaskaran’s
neighbour
Solomon
is
found
dead
and
his
daughter
Mercy
goes
missing.
Mercy’s
mother
Esther
(Lakshmi
Priyaa
Chandramouli),
who
is
shattered
by
the
tragedy
that
hit
her
life,
starts
her
search
for
her
missing
daughter.
Meanwhile,
Gautham
(Vidaarth),
a
powerless
police
driver
gets
drawn
in
this
case
due
to
multiple
reasons.
However,
Bhaskaran,
who
has
a
big
secret
to
hide,
finds
himself
getting
entangled
in
Mercy’s
missing,
and
the
incidents
that
follow.
Soon,
he
is
stuck
in
a
difficult
situation
as
he
is
forced
to
choose
between
his
grandson’s
life
and
his
conscience,
thus
landing
in
a
moral
dilemma.
Writing
And
Direction
Director
Selvamani
Muniyappan,
and
the
writing
team
have
succeeded
in
creating
the
dark
and
disturbing
world
of
Kuttram
Purindhavan:
The
Guilty
One.
This
Sony
LIV
web
series
deals
with
a
subject
that
is
extremely
relevant,
and
makes
the
viewers
quite
uncomfortable.
The
series
steps
right
into
the
plot
without
wasting
time,
and
the
narrative
is
build
on
the
twists
and
turns
that
are
thrown
into
it
quite
often.
But,
the
effective
writing
and
worldbuilding
is
enough
to
keep
the
audiences
in
the
edge
of
their
seats.
Bhaskaran
is
an
ordinary
man
who
gets
entangled
in
a
heinous
crime
unexpectedly.
Gautham,
on
the
other
hand,
is
a
failed
police
man
who
wants
to
prove
himself.
The
anguish
of
both
these
men
are
conveyed
very
effectively,
that
the
viewers
will
be
able
to
connect
with
them
and
root
for
them,
even
when
they
are
“morally”
wrong.
The
character
arcs,
and
the
slow-burn
nature
of
the
narrative
also
help
in
making
the
storytelling
and
its
ending,
more
effective.
However,
Kuttram
Purindhavan
is
hit
by
predictability
quite
often.
(NO

For
Eg.
It
was
so
easy
to
foresee
the
arc
of
some
characters,
especially
Jacky,
right
from
their
introduction.
Also,
the
story
and
how
it
is
unfolded,
the
characters,
and
the
setting
reminded
us
of
some
of
the
Tamil
original
series
that
belong
to
the
same
genre.
Performances
Pasupathy
has
delivered
a
highly
earnest
performance
as
Bhaskaran,
and
conveyed
the
dilemmas
of
his
character
with
the
right
balance
of
emotions.
Vidaarth
has
played
the
hopeless
cop
Gautham
to
near
perfection.
Lizzie
Antony
is
decent
as
Bhaskaran’s
wife
who
is
forced
to
become
her
husband’s
confidante
in
a
tricky
situation.
Lakshmi
Priyaa
Chandramouli
stands
out
as
Mercy’s
panic-striken
mother
Esther,
who
faces
the
unexpected
tragedy
all
alone.
Technical

Cinematographer
Farook

the
perfect

the
dark,
gritty

with
his
effective

SN’s
