As expected, Mankatha made a massive opening at the box office, and later had a fantastic weekend, beating the collection records of Thalapathy Vijay’s Ghilli. Reportedly, Ajith’s film is still maintaining its momentum at the box office, as it completed 11 days of its release.

According to the recent reports by Sacnilk, the Tamil Nadu net collection of the Ajith Kumar film has now touched the ₹13 crore mark. The gross collection of the state is said to be over ₹15 crore.

While considering the current box office trends, Mankatha has high chances to enjoy a quite long run at the box office, as the Tamil film industry is devoid of promising new releases. Ajith Kumar starrer is expected to set a few more records at the box office, within its second lifetime run.

Mankatha Plot, Cast And Crew

For the uninitiated, Ajith Kumar essayed the role of ACP Vinayak Mahadevan IPS, a corrupted police officer in Mankatha, which marked his first collaboration with director Venkat Prabhu.The blockbuster film revolves around the central character Vinayak Mahadevan IPS, a corrupt ACP in Mumbai who joins a gang of four who plans on a heist of cricket betting money.

Trisha Krishnan appeared as the female lead opposite Ajith in the film, which stars Arjun Sarja, Andrea Jeramiah, Vaibhav, Ashwin Kakumanu, Premgi Amaran, Mahat Raghavendra, Jayaprakash, Aravind Akash, Subbu Panchu, and others essayed the supporting roles.

Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the songs and the original score for the film. Sakthi Saravanan is the director of photography. Praveen KL and NB Srikanth handled the editing of the film. Mankatha is bankrolled by Cloud Nine Movies.
