Pookie First Review: The romantic drama Pookie, starring Ajay Dhishan and R. K. Dhanusha, released in theatres today, February 13, 2026. Ahead of its theatrical opening, film industry tracker Ramesh Bala shared his early reaction to the film following a preview screening.

In his post on X, Ramesh Bala rated the film 3.25 out of 5 and described it as a movie targeted at today’s youth. According to him, the story revolves around a couple who decide to break up and the emotional journey that follows. He noted that the narrative presents how the pair cope with the separation in an entertaining manner.

Ramesh Bala characterised the film as carrying a “fun” and “vibe”-driven tone, adding that it has a strong musical presence. He highlighted the performances of the lead actors, stating that Ajay Dhishan and R. K. Dhanusha have delivered commendable performances. He also mentioned that the supporting cast, which includes Sunil and Lakshmi Manchu, fits well within the film’s framework.

The music, composed by Vijay Antony, was described in the post as another strong element of the film. Ramesh Bala remarked that the songs play a significant role in shaping the overall experience. He further observed that director Ganesh Chandra appears to understand the sensibilities of younger audiences, suggesting that the film could appeal particularly to couples and youth audiences over the Valentine’s Day weekend.

Pookie has been presented by Meera Vijay Antony under Fatima Vijay Antony Company and Vijay Antony Film Corporation. Apart from the lead pair, the film features a cast that includes Pandiarajan, Indumathi Manigandan, Vivek Prasanna, Bigg Boss Sathya and others.

According to the official synopsis, the story follows Kailash and Aazhi, who have been in a relationship for six years. A heated argument leads to the words “Let’s break up,” triggering a turning point that alters the course of their lives. The incident forms the foundation of the narrative.

Technically, the film is directed and shot by Ganesh Chandra, with editing and music by Vijay Antony. The screenplay and dialogues are credited to Puthiya Parithi. With its release now underway, audience response in the coming hours and days will determine how the film performs at the box office.
