Chinmayi Slams Vairamuthu’s Jnanpith Win; Calls Out Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan For Praising The Lyricist: The senior Tamil writer-poet-turned-lyricist was recently honoured with the Jnanpith Award, India’s highest accolade for literature. While Chinmayi Sripada slamed Vairamuthu’s big win, some of the senior industry members including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan took to their social media handles and congratulated the lyricist. The popular singer, however, called out the veterans for the same.

The popular singer, who has previously alleged the poet-lyricist of sexual misconduct, is clearly unhappy with the Jnanpith Award results. Chinmayi Sripada, who is well-known for her outspoken nature, took to her official social media handles and slammed Vairamuthu’s Jnanpith win. She also called out Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, who praised the lyricist for the big win, with strongly-worded posts.

“In 2018, multiple women of different age groups named one Poet – Lyricist as their molester. Today the Gnanpith is awarded to the man, after someone like Sri Jayakantan, whose daughter called Vairamuthu out for presenting a forged, fake letter by Sri Jayakanthan ‘praising’ Vairamuthu,” pointed out Chinmayi in her X post. “The collective voices of the women who named him, were silenced. I paid a very heavy price – the rest of the women who left their dreams behind weren’t half as lucky as I,” she further added.

“For God’s sake… P.S.: Men in such power in cinema transitioning to politics completely turning a deaf ear to women who come on record to say they were molested by “his uncle-mentor” must remind women who vote – that men will never be on our side. The weirdest thing – one of the women in his own party publicly named the Poet,” reminded the National Award-winning singer, who reacted to Kamal Haasan’s post.

“End of the day, men WILL stand by their bros, uncles, dads, friends, mentors. Who cares if multiple women were traumatised?” further added Chinmayi Sripada. Later, she also reacted to the X post of superstar Rajinikanth, who congratulated Vairamuthu with a post that reads: “Ayyyyyyoooo!!! Puriyave puriyaadha??! (You just don’t understand right?)” As always, the internet is now divided over Chinmayi’s reactions, which have led to a major discussion online.
