Kids’ taste in entertainment tends to be unpredictable. Toddlers especially will become invested in one show, and go whole stretches refusing to watch anything else, before they suddenly decide they never want to see it again. That’s why when you find a show that truly captions their attention you want them to stick to it for as long as you can manage—which means trying to provide them with fresh content they haven’t seen before.
CoComelon’s YouTube channel is a blessing for parents for exactly that reason. Each week, it publishes a set of new videos that are toddler entertainment—catchy songs paired with entrancing visuals—and they actually teach little ones life skills, too.
What To Watch on the CoComelon YouTube Channel This Week
This week, the new videos on the channel feature classic nursery rhymes, songs about eating and cooking, and a longer playlist that might just help your child get ready in the morning.
First up is a CoComelon twist on the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme. It features two songs back to back: “Humpty Dumpty Outdoor Rescue,” and “Humpty Dumpty Grocery Store.” In the first, JJ and his friend Tom sing the nursery rhyme while on a camping trip, while in the second one JJ’s friend Nina sings the song at the grocery store.
The next video is all about cooking. And for toddlers who aren’t always amendable to sitting down at the dinner table, anything that might help them get excited about mealtimes is going to be a win for parents, too.
In the song, JJ has a playdate where he learns all about how to make pizza and pasta from his grandma. The pair get to decide what sauce to put on the pasta and what toppings to add to the pizza. Maybe it will inspire your family to cook together, or help entice your toddler into the kitchen with the promise that they will help you cook.
Sounds like it could be a meaningful family bonding experience—just be prepared to make a mess.
This week’s new batch of videos also includes a longer playlist of the CoComelon “Yes Yes” songs. The first one, “Yes Yes Getting Dressed Song,” helps teach toddlers how to get dressed in the morning. Since it’s one of the most challenging tasks of a parent’s morning routine, any help is probably welcome.
The next one is called “Yes Yes Vegetables,” and depicts JJ finishing—and enjoying—his vegetables at mealtime with his mom. Toddlers adore JJ, and if JJ loves his vegetables, maybe just maybe, that might convince your toddler to love theirs, too. It’s worth a try right?
