Charting a new course – Healthy Happy Impactful

Good morning. Sometimes it sneaks up on you…

You’re busy, moving through the day, checking off the next thing. And before you know it, time has passed without much to show for it except being tired.

But it doesn’t have to feel that way. You just need a little more intention behind what you’re building.

This week is about waking up to your life and making sure the effort you’re putting in is actually leading somewhere that matters.

I’ve been thinking about today’s quote. And how people can get stuck, unhappy for years. Decades even.

Because they wait for the conditions to be “just right” to make a change.

That’s a lot of time in your life, lost to pain.

Truly, when you have a problem or challenge, you only have two options:

  • Change it
  • Change the way you think about it

That’s it.

Simple – Both require you to take 100% responsibility for your life.

But not easy. It’s much easier for us to be angry, complain, blame, and wallow.

Today, I challenge you to think about your goal for the week:

First, make one simple change that moves you toward it (have a hard conversation, find help, make a decision, take a break, etc)

Then, write an affirmation that flips a negative belief you have about it. (i.e., Turn “I’m too old” into “I haven’t done it yet, but I’m ready now.” Then find people your age who are doing it as examples.)

Now, start using your affirmation daily. And write out the next small step toward your goal.

You’ll feel the chains lifting from your heart. Because you’re charting a new course with your mind.

HHI and The Family Table are proud supporters of the Malala Fund

At age 11, Malala began writing a diary for BBC Urdu under a pseudonym. The diary was about her life and passion for learning, despite girls being banned from going to school. It also made her a target. At age 15, a masked Taliban gunman boarded her bus and shot her on the left side of her head. Her survival was a miracle.

After recovery, she and her father co-founded the Malala Fund to champion every girl’s right to 12 years of free, safe, quality education. At age 17, she became the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

Her story highlights her words: “One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world.”

Girls around the world are fighting for their rights. I have two daughters of my own, and I think about a bright future for them every day.

Together, at this table, we can give all girls a fighting chance. And a seat at whichever table they choose in life.
