Funny Things My 3 Year Old Said Recently
Florence is a little girl with a HUGE personality and she never fails to entertain us. A non-stop chatter box, she really is 3 going on 13 when it comes to emotional intelligence, spirit and sass. Boy, is this girl one smart cookie. Having older brothers undoubtedly helps when it comes to her diction and confidence. Her vocobulary is so expansive, strangers listening to her speak in cafes and restaurants are shocked when they discover her age.
Here I wanted to keep a record of the funny things she says.
These blog posts are mostly for myself, an archive charting Florence’s growth over the months and years, just like I did for her brothers.
Let gooo!
Alexander, 12, is going through puberty, so we’re used to lots of slammed doors and mood swings here. Late this afternoon, when we collected him from school, without any prompting, Florence piped up in the car on the way home, and said, ‘Xander, are you in a good mood?’
She was met with tumble weed from her big brother, as I tried not to burst out laughing.
We were also discussing a food and drinks stand outside of our house, after Alexander brought home some delicious cheese scones he’d made at school. The stand was a fictional idea on my behalf to express how impressed I was with my son’s culinary skills. We only usually make sweet scones at home but he’s going to make us cheese scones at home now!
Overhearing me tell him he should selll his scones, Florence offered up some of her own business ideas,
‘I know, lets sell donuts for pretend money, and pizza, and how about milkshakes’.
Good ideas, Flo!
When I was having my nails done in time for our upcoming holiday, Florence asked for hers to be painted,
‘I don’t want the polish that comes off though’ she warned. I had to explain that she’s far too young for gel nails, hahaha!
Reading a moving new children’s book we were kindly gifted, This Letter Says I Love You by Lucy Rowland and Sharon Rentta, Florence noticed I was welling up to this sweet ode to a beloved, lost grandma.
Turning to me as I read the final page, Florence looked up sweetly and asked, ‘Are you going to cry again, Mummy’. Awww.
