Jana Nayagan OTT Deal In Trouble? The digital release prospects of Jana Nayagan, the upcoming Tamil political action thriller starring actor-turned-politician Vijay, have reportedly come under fresh uncertainty as the film continues to face delays in the certification process.

Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan features Vijay in the lead alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju. The cast also includes Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani in key roles. The project has drawn attention as it is widely expected to mark Vijay’s final film appearance before he shifts focus fully to his political career.

The film has faced prolonged delays in obtaining certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Jana Nayagan was initially scheduled to release in theatres on January 9, 2026, but its release was halted after the film did not receive clearance in time. The issue later moved to the courts, with the producers seeking intervention over the delay. Following the legal proceedings, the makers eventually decided to resubmit the film for examination by the CBFC’s revising committee.

As part of that process, a review screening of the film was reportedly scheduled for March 9. However, the screening did not take place as planned and was postponed, according to reports.

The film is expected to be examined by a revising committee before a final decision on certification is taken. A CBFC board member will preside over the examination, while a different set of advisory panel members will join the committee for the screening. As of now, a new date for the review screening has not been announced.

Jana Nayagan OTT Deal Speculation Emerges Amid Ongoing Censor Delay

Amid the ongoing uncertainty, fresh speculation has surfaced regarding the film’s post-theatrical digital release. Film industry tracker Mukil Vardhanan recently suggested on social media that the OTT deal with Amazon Prime Video could be at risk due to the prolonged censorship situation.

However, no official statement confirming any cancellation or change in the streaming agreement has been issued by the platform or the film’s producers so far.

Jana Nayagan is being produced by Venkat K. Narayana under the KVN Productions banner, marking the company’s first Tamil film project. The film’s technical team includes music composer Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan and editor Pradeep E. Ragav.

Other key crew members include production designer V. Selvakumar, action choreographer Anl Arasu and costume designer Pallavi Singh. The film’s music rights have been acquired by T-Series.

With the film now awaiting evaluation by the CBFC’s revising committee, its release timeline remains uncertain. Until a certification decision is made, both the theatrical launch and any confirmed digital distribution plans are likely to remain on hold.
