Jana Nayagan Update: Vijay’s Film Faces Fresh Delay As CBFC Re-Certification Screening Called Off

Jana Nayagan Update: A screening of the Tamil film Jana Nayagan for re-certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which was reportedly scheduled for Monday, March 9, was cancelled at the last minute.

According to posts shared by industry tracker Ramesh Bala and other sources on social media, the film was set to be screened for the CBFC’s Revising Committee at around 2:00 pm on March 9. The producers had reportedly been informed about the screening schedule through an email sent roughly a week earlier. However, sources now state that the board informed the production team that one of the committee members assigned to watch the film had fallen ill. As a result, the planned screening for re-certification was called off for the day.

Jana Nayagan has been awaiting certification for several weeks, and the film’s release has remained uncertain following earlier delays linked to the certification process. The project was initially slated to arrive in theatres on January 9, 2026, but the release did not take place as planned due to issues connected to the censor clearance.

Jana Nayagan Cast, Crew And Ongoing Certification Delay

Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Venkat K. Narayana under the KVN Productions banner, Jana Nayagan is described as a political action thriller. The film features Vijay in the lead role alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju. The cast also includes Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, and Priyamani in significant roles.

The project has drawn considerable attention as it is widely expected to be Vijay’s final film appearance before he transitions fully into political activities. The film also marks KVN Productions’ first venture into Tamil cinema.

Behind the scenes, the film brings together several technicians. The music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while cinematography is handled by Sathyan Sooryan. Editing duties are carried out by Pradeep E. Ragav, with V. Selvakumar serving as production designer. Action sequences have been choreographed by Anl Arasu, and the film’s sound design is by Synccinema, with Kannan Ganpat overseeing sound mixing.

Other key contributors include choreographers Sekhar VJ and Sudhan, costume designer Pallavi Singh, and publicity designer Gopi Prasannaa. The film’s visual effects supervision is handled by Monesh H, with DI work completed at Knack Studios.

The cancellation of the March 9 screening means a new date will need to be scheduled for the Revising Committee to view the film. As of now, the producers have not announced when the next screening for certification will take place.

Until the certification process is completed, the film’s theatrical release timeline remains unclear.
