Good morning. I’ve been thinking a lot about the power of small, intentional moments.
After all, we’re not just filling calendars. We’re building a community of families who choose connection. Who look up. Who ask one more question at the dinner table. Who decide that presence matters more than perfection.
Years can pass in a blink. Childhood does too.
So, let’s remember that sometimes it takes the lights going out to see what’s been glowing all along.
Let’s choose each other. Again and again.
Your son will be in college in 4 years. How many real conversations will you have before then?
This is a question I’ve been asking myself a LOT lately. (And why I created these!)

The kitchen timer beeped, but no one moved.
For years, Sunday dinners at Grandma’s house had been loud — clinking plates, overlapping conversations, someone always laughing too hard. But lately, things had changed. Work schedules stretched longer. The kids got older. Phones quietly replaced stories. “We’ll come next week,” became, “We’ll try.”
One Sunday, the power went out mid-dinner. No lights. No TV. No Wi-Fi.
At first, there were sighs. Complaints. Someone joked about how we’d “survive the dark ages.” But then candles were lit. Chairs were pulled closer. Without screens glowing in their hands, faces did instead.
Grandma started telling a story about when she was sixteen and burned her first Thanksgiving turkey. Dad admitted he used to be terrified of the dark as a kid. The cousins laughed until they cried over memories no one had shared in years.
When the lights finally flickered back on, no one reached for their phones.
Because for two quiet hours, they remembered something easy to forget: family time isn’t about perfect schedules or fancy meals. It’s about presence.
And sometimes, it takes the lights going out to help you see what matters most.

“We are loving the Family Night Club. It’s so much easier to just receive a list with a movie, game and recipe than to worry about planning something fun all the time. I have enough on my mind as it is! I like having someone else tell me “here, do this!” – Elizabeth Y.
