Electimuss is a contemporary luxury fragrance house founded in 2015 by Luke Granger and Jason Collison, with some of the world’s most talented perfumers contributing to their collections with fragrances by Julien Rasquinet, Christian Provenzano, Kevin Mathys, John Stephens, Marco Genovese, Celine Barel and Sofia Bardelli.
Inspired by Ancient Rome and the Roman’s obsession with perfume, this is a perfume brand rooted in history, and the cleansing and beauty rituals of the past.
Having just written a children’s book retelling Greek myths for Scholastic UK, I know that the Greeks advanced perfume before the Romans conquered them and carried the fragrance baton onwards.
It’s wonderful to imagine that approximately 2500 years ago, the sncient Greeks were developing liquid perfumes and innovative techniques for extraction and application that have influenced perfume practices and products today. They developed floral balms intitially made with favoured flowers of the today: rose, iris, marjoram, and lily. Raw materials were imported from near and far: incense and myrrh from Syria and Egypt, cinnamon from the East and saffron from Crete for example.
Astra Nova will transport you back to those earliest scents with perfumes which offer projection, memorable and long-lasting fragrance.
Electimuss translates to, ‘to choose the best’ in Latin and that ethos is at the heart of their brand. Exquisite oils and resins within their fragrances are incredibly rare and precious, and blended with meticulous attention paid to every note and detail. Their perfumes are utterly distinctive and I was amazed, as someone who feels fragrance rarely lasts on me, that Astra Nova was applied in the morning and was still going strong by the evening.
Astrum Nova by David Chieze is fittingly described on their site as,
“A celestial burst of citrus and luscious fruits, anchored by precious woods and sensual vanilla.”
Luminous, effervescent, scintillating
The oud and oakmoss provide a woody base with musky and warm tonka bean and vanilla scents weaved through. The bottle in vibrant, deep sapphire blue decorated with celestial stars means it’s not only a statement fragrance on your skin but also your dressing table, respectively.
A nod to the anceient astro-gardeners of the ancient world in their agricultural practices, informing the best times for planting and harvesting as the seasons came and went, this is a fragrance our forefathers and mothers would be proud of.
A fragrance with history, substance and the most magnetic scents. This is my new signature scent.
I’m in love.
