Suzhal- The Vortex 2 Synopsis
Nandini (Aishwarya Rajesh) is on the verge of getting acquitted for the murder of Guna with Lawyer Chellappa (Lal) on her side. Sakkarai (Kathir) accompanies Chellappa, his father-like figure to his home for the Ashtakaali festival. On the next day morning, Chellappa, who leaves for his farmhouse is found dead with a gunshot to his temple with the gun missing. Sakkarai, who is unofficially given the charge finds out Muthu (Gouri Kishan) locked inside a cupboard with the gun. What seems like a closed-door murder is now an open-and-shut case until eight other women from different parts of the state surrender to the police claiming to have killed Chellappa.
Analysis
The web series has an interesting premise surrounding a lawyer’s murder and eight girls claiming to have killed him, thereby surrendering to the cops. The episodes feel lengthier with a rather slow narration filled with a bunch of redundant scenes and elaborate introductions to characters that come and go. The plot, however, surprises with many layers and twists. The character arc of Lal’s Chellappa character is mind-blowing and the screenplay keeps you hooked. After the first four episodes, the story unravels more delving into deeper secrets and unexpected facts coming out.
Performances
The actors suitably cast for the respective roles have done the needful with steady performances and adequate emotions. Kathir and Aishwarya Rajesh lead the story with their characters and Manjima Mohan is a surprise element. The actors who played various other small and impactful characters deliver what is expected out of them neatly.
Verdict
Suzhal 2 makes for a very good watch and offers a fresh investigation of a homicide with many textures of human emotions and layers of characterizations throwing a surprise in each episode.
