‘Tehran’ Producer Dana Eden Dead at 52 in Greek Hotel, Season 4 Shoot

Dana Eden, an Israeli producer on the Apple TV hit espionage thriller series Tehran, was found dead at the age of 52 on Sunday in a hotel room in Athens, Greece, during the shoot of the show’s season 4, Reuters and Israeli networks reported.

No cause of death has been confirmed, but Reuters quoted local police officials as saying that they are so far treating it as a potential suicide based on early evidence and testimonies.

“This is a moment of great sorrow for the family, friends, and colleagues,” production company Donna and Shula Productions said in a statement. It also seemed to address social media rumors of an involvement of Iranian agents, saying: “The production company wishes to clarify that rumors regarding a criminal or nationalistic-related death are not true and are unfounded.”

Israeli public broadcaster Kan said in a statement: “We mourn the passing of our colleague and partner in a long line of productions, series, and programs at the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation – Dana Eden. Dana was among the senior figures in Israel’s television industry and played a central role in creating and leading some of the corporation’s most prominent and influential productions. Her professional and personal legacy will continue to shape Israeli television for many years to come.”

Greek police officials said the 52-year-old’s body was found after her brother failed to reach her several times. Local police issued an autopsy order to determine the cause of death and started collecting security camera footage and testimony from hotel staff, according to reports.

Hugh Laurie stars in the recently launched third season of Tehran. Created by Eden, Moshe Zonder and Maor Kohn, written by Tony Saint and Simon Allen, and directed by Daniel Syrkin, the series stars Niv Sultan as a Mossad hacker-agent who infiltrates Tehran under a false identity, Shaun Toub, and Shila Ommi. Season 3 also features Sasson Gabai, Phoenix Raei, and Bahar Pars.
