TVK Vijay Candidate List Tamil Nadu: Actor-turned-politician Vijay on Sunday announced the full list of candidates for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, marking the electoral debut of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The announcement comes weeks ahead of polling scheduled for April 23 across all 234 constituencies in the state.
Vijay will contest from two constituencies, Perambur in Chennai and Trichy East. Both seats are currently held by the ruling DMK, setting up direct contests against the incumbents.
According to NDTV, addressing party members during the announcement event in Chennai, Vijay urged voters to support TVK and its “whistle” election symbol. He also said voters should not differentiate between him and other TVK candidates, adding that all of them should be viewed equally.
According to The Economic Times, the candidate list includes several key party leaders. TVK general secretary N. Anand has been fielded from T Nagar, while treasurer Venkat Ramanan will contest from Mylapore. Aadhav Arjuna is the party’s pick for Villivakkam, and K.A. Sengottaiyan will contest from Gobichettipalayam. Other names include Arun Raj (Tiruchengode) and J.C.D. Prabhakar (Thousand Lights), among others.
In a notable move, TVK has fielded V.S. Babu against Chief Minister M. K. Stalin in Kolathur. The party has also nominated Selvam, a former Congress leader, to take on Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin in Chepauk.
Vijay Outlines Key Promises, Raises Concerns Over Poll Fairness
During his speech, Vijay said he had personally selected the candidates, adding that they come from ordinary backgrounds. He also framed the election as a contest between his party and the alliance led by M.K. Stalin.
TVK has outlined a set of promises ahead of the polls, including measures aimed at employment, governance transparency, and law and order. Among them are proposals for financial assistance to those without jobs after the age of 29, measures aimed at creating a drug-free Tamil Nadu, and reforms in government recruitment processes, according to NDTV.
Separately, the party has raised concerns with election authorities, alleging that certain officials are acting in favour of the ruling party and seeking their transfer to ensure a level playing field, as reported by The Economic Times.
With the candidate list now out and campaign activity intensifying, all eyes are on how Vijay’s first electoral outing will shape the dynamics of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
