What do I have in common with The Spice Girls, Tina Turner and Sylvester Stallone?
Great dance moves, yes (ha) but most importantly, we have all stayed at the elegant Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort-and Mama, it was simply the best! Sorry, I couldn’t help it. It really was though!
Just look how stunning it is!

A Grade II listed mansion in Rothwell, South Leeds, Oulton Hall hotel boasts a 27 hole golf course, Elemis spa and 4 dining venues in stunning landscaped gardens deep in the countryside, far from hustle and bustle, yet only a short drive from the city centre.
An oasis of calm this family fell in love with.

Our family’s suite for 5 was enveloped in springtime blossom trees, visible from every window, making this historic hotel an utter haven for guests like us, who wanted to retreat into a historic manor house for the weekend, in a bid to ccompletely forget the outside world for a little while.
Look at this romantic decor, I was making notes as we’re still renovating! The gilded mirrors, crystal chandeliers and warm wooden touches, draped curtains and restored fireplaces have my name all over them! So classically beautiful.

One of my closest friends Rachael (and my daughter Florence’s godmother) lives nearby (in fact the house they bought was originally part of the hotel’s estate) so it was a real treat she could join us for lunch with her youngest child George before they ventured to the coast for a football tournament.
Talk about quality time with family and friends.

Food at the hotel is seasonal, expertly curated and cooked, delightful British and American inspired fare with flare. I’m not sure there was anything we didn’t sample from the menu between us all! Feast your eyes on this! Fried chicken and tofu dishes, nachos with all the trimmings and the perfect fish and chips we collectively shared. Yum.

Dinner was just as excellent as was the service throughout, with welcoming, kind and knowledgeable staff.
Dreamy duck, chunky and delicious double cheese burgers, perfectly fried buttery steak and delicate salmon mains were gobbled up and when we discovered the pancakes on the children’s menu for dessert had sold out, the waiter improvised with chocolate waffles, much to Florence’s delight. Meringue and sticky toffee pudding were my husband Peter and son Alexander’s choice but Oliver and I were too full to complement dessert which is testament to the hearty portion sizes.

Wow!
…The hotel and its grounds are vast and they are au faire to catering to all kinds of parties. There was a large, opulent wedding on when we arrived which added to the excitement of the visit with Florence asking if the bride was a real princess. Watching her walk down this sweeping staircase was quite the moment and it’s obvious to see why its popular with A listers!

Florence enjoyed a tinkle on the piano there where children are encouraged to play.

Children and families are welcomed in every way there and the swimming pool, spa and gym make it the ideal spot for parents and children alike looking to have fun, rest and relax.
Due to a recent back injury I was limited in how much exercise I could do (walking slowly felt triumphant after the brutal month I’ve had) so whilst my teens hit the gym on both days, I soaked in the elegant bath in our ensuite (the bathroom and adjacent dressing room were the size of a large bedroom in themselves) whilst Florence watched Cbeebies on our King’s size bed. Our kind of bliss! I do want to return and have a swim though as the pool, jacuzzi and sauna facilities looked incredible and well worth a visit.
Now let me show you around our suite…

Breathtaking!
Breakfast was perfect too with continental as well as cooked options and thoughtful additions such as a fresh mango coulis to drizzle over your Greek yoghurt and plenty of exocit fruit salad, warm croissants and handmade cakes. Princess Florence never wanted to leave!

Nor did we!
Unlike some historical hotels in need of a glow up, Oulton Hall is utterly pristine with premium facilities.
The luxe gel Jessica manicure I enjoyed by almost decade long spa employee, expert beautician Faye, was the most nourishing and nail boosting treatment I’ve ever had. An hour and a half later and I felt like I had brand new hands! Now if only I could achieve that with my back, I’ll be a happy mama!

Last weekend was just what the doctor ordered. Literally.
For all of us.

It was the happiest of Easters.

The following day, drove further into the countryside and picked up local raw honey and eggs from a local farm and my husband Peter and the kids had a sunny walk whilst I read in the shade. Yorkshire, we love you and are so happy to call you home!
Huge thanks to Spa Seekers and Oulton Hall Hotel for this complimentary, press stay.
As always, my words are honest.
